Nintendo’s history stretches all the way back to the late 1800s when they it was first started as a playing card company. Since then, the company eventually became the largest card maker in Japan at one point. However, with the decline of card sales and a variety of failed ventures threatening to destroy the company, Nintendo was dealt a good “hand”.
In 1970, former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi was visiting a Nintendo factory when he noticed an extendable hand. It turns out that the hand was made by the company janitor/maintenance man Gunpei Yokoi. Yokoi was ordered to make the hand production ready. The final product was the Ultrahand which would go on to sell over 1 million units and would be one of the earliest smash hits for Nintendo. This simple hand would set Nintendo on the course to become to gaming empire that it is today!

So, you hacked your DSI did you? Let me guess, you ran a flash cart. No? You probably added some LEDs then right? No? You must be pretty hard core, did you add a NES controler? No? Well what did you do?
We still have no idea what this guy is doing. But he is doing it very meticulously. We found [Micah Dowty]’s photo stream on flicker and we were instantly pulled in. He has done some extensive modifications to his DSI. He has spread its innards for all to see and begun hacking. It appears as though most of this is for memory dumps and direct access to the RAM in the unit, but frankly we just want to stare at these pictures.

Nintendo just LOVES to steal ideas from Apple. And why not? Apple has produced some of the most beautiful gadgets the world has ever seen. Since the N64s multiple color choices to the sleek white design of the Wii, Nintendo has taken many ques from apple and in my humble opinion, the world is better off because of it.
So what's next you ask? It's a new "i". It's not an iPhone or an iMac but a new i from Nintendo. For apple, adding the character before a product name has pretty much ordained it to be a huge success. This strategy is one that Nintendo has now decided to employ for the all new Nintendo DSi.

Sure, DS sounds like some kind of horrible bowel disease but... it isn't. The Nintendo DS is the world's first double screened, portable hand held gaming system. The design is impeccable, with the screens placed one on top of the other. The top screen is where the action happens, the bottom screen is actually touch sensitive and can be used with a stylus. This affords some very interesting new-fangled gaming capabilities that any avid or casual gamer can appreciate.
Originally code named "Nitro" by Nintendo, the DS is the best selling next gen portable gaming device and it's obvious why.
On March 2nd,2006 Nintendo released the DS Lite. This redesign of the Nintendo DS made the system lighter, sleeker, brighter and generally more gorgeous than ever before.
With 100+ titles and dozens of critically acclaimed ones at that, the Nintendo DS is by far the coolest hand held ever. Trust us, if the thing wasn't awesome, we wouldn't be wasting our time with a blog about it.

Not only is the Nintendo DS a great handheld gaming device but it can also be used to fan yourself off on those hot summer days. You can use it for kindling in campfires, fill for sink holes or for smacking people over the head with. If none of those uses suit your needs it remains the greatest hand held gaming system of all time.
This blog is dedicated to my love for the Nintendo DS and as such I will soon be posting pictures of my wedding to my new pink DS lite (only a gay guy would marry a blue one...)
Thanks for visiting! Drop me a comment or just read and enjoy! I hope you'll laugh, cry or find something helpful.
